When Hope Seems Scarce...

Hello and welcome to my site! I'm Jennifer. I am a teacher, a wife, a sister and a friend. And I wanted to start a blog to show you that you're not alone. I know that life seems hard to navigate. I know that things feel like they are on fast forward so much of the time. I know that in this world, there seems to be a lot of self-help advice out there but at the end of a long and busy day, sometimes you need more than just yourself. Sometimes you need a friend. And that is why I founded this site and I'm writing this blog. We need a hope project!

Let me tell you a story. A former student of mine had encountered a series of losses that were staggering for a young man his age. The most recent loss left him feeling bereft of any joy or hope. He reached out to me and I felt blessed and thankful to be the vessel through which some light and life began to flow his way. I made a suggestion. I told him, "Let's start a writing project. Let's call it The Hope Project. And let's spend some time writing together about the feeling of hope, where we find it, what we're reading about it. And I promise you that hope will come back. It will return."

There's a joyous writing project between us that continues today, one where we both find connection, understanding and our tanks both are filled by reminding one another that hope exists, despite the pain that life brings. Despite the losses. I know that my former student and friend still feels the grief of his tremendous loss. But I also know that he's caught the spirit of hope. And he is passing along what he has seen and learned along the way to others.

I want nothing less than a revolution. I want you to find hope. And I want you to share what you learn along the way with others. I want it to be so good that you find it impossible to keep it to yourself!

Thanks for stopping by for a while. Here's to what comes next!
